400 students take part in oral health awareness drive at PU

Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital,Panjab University (PU) began a two-day ‘Oral Health Awareness’ drive at the university on Monday.

The first day of the drive —Marching Towards Sparkling Smiles — witnessed around 400 students,interns and faculty members of the institute carrying out a balloon rally,which was flagged off from the institute in the afternoon. The rally,led by the dental institute principal,Dr Ashish Jain,marched through the south campus of the university to the north campus and ended at the Student Centre,where the interns of the institute enacted an informative street play on the importance of oral hygiene,demerits of tobacco and related products.

The participants also raised oral health awareness slogans and distributed free toothpaste samples and oral health-care pamphlets among the public. The colorful balloons which were carried throughout the rally were later released to mark the celebrations. A rangoli competition was also organised as part of the two-day event.
