Around 25-30 huts at Gawala Colony in Maloya were charred on Tuesday after a fire broke out in one of them. The fire subsequently spread to the other closely-knit huts as well. The cause of the breakout of the fire has not been established yet. No one was reported to be injured in the mishap.
The incident took place around 11 am on Tuesday,when one of the huts caught fire due to unidentified reasons and spread to others in the same line.
The jhuggis that caught fire were charred and all the goods inside them were completely destroyed,police said. There are about a total of 40-45 huts at Gawala Colony. Some onlookers noticed one of the huts catching fire,and raised an alarm. Three fire tenders were pressed into service and the fire was put out in about an hour.
