The parliamentary polls are still more than a year away but BJP in Haryana has initiated serious efforts to train its workers at grassroots level for the upcoming elections. The initiated hectic organisational activities are already underway aiming to win all ten Lok Sabha seats from the state like it secured in 2019 assembly polls.
The party has called nearly 3,000 active workers of the party — called Shakti Kendra Pramukhs — for a training camp to be organised at village Patti Kalyana of Panipat district on March 19 this year. They will come from six parliamentary constituencies. BJP president JP Nadda and Haryana party in-charge and former Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb apart from Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and party state president Om Prakash Dhankar will address the training camp. A day-long training camp will be orgranised for the party workers of the remaining four Lok Sabha constituencies in Hisar on March 25. According to party leaders, a Shakti Kendra Pramukh looks after 4-6 polling booths who activate the booth level workers – panna pramukhs.
Om Prakash Dhankar says: “We want to activate our panna pramukhs as each of them will look after as many as 125 persons. A strong base at this level automatically strengthens the party. The coming training sessions are mainly motivational sessions as the panna pramukhs have already completed 50-80 % work at the ground level.” Dhankar adds: “We will complete this campaign by April 6—the foundation day of BJP—when the party flags will be hoisted at the homes of five lakh panna pramukhs in Haryana.”
Haryana BJP chief spokesperson Sanjay Sharma says: “We have planned to appoint panna pramukhs in every polling booth by March 30. After this, we have plans to hold assembly constituency level conferences at all 90 Vidhan Sabha segments.”
As part of a strategy to connect with the voters at ground level, the party has appointed panna pramukhs— each of them in-charge of a page of the voters’ list at a booth— to campaign during elections. The responsibilities of panna pramukhs include meeting voters on the list allotted to them.
