It has been more than three months since Iram,a 14-year-old mentally challenged girl, has been missing from her home in Maloya. The Chandigarh Police has failed to locate the missing girl, who was allegedly kidnapped by a labourer on the morning of March 7.
Iram is a student of class VII of the Government School in Maloya and is the eldest among five brothers and sisters. She is very innocent and mentally challenged. Iram had never stepped out of her house alone, she would not even go to school without her younger sister. What worries me is how my child will contact me,as she does not even remember my phone number, her father Sageer Khan said.
He added,It has been more than three months since my daughter has gone missing. Every day I visit the Maloya police chowki with some hope, but most of the time they turn me away from the gate only.
Sageer Khan has blamed his neighbours niece and Bablu, her paying guest. On March 7,at around 5 am,there was a missed call on my mobile phone and an hour after that my daughter went missing. The unknown number was later identified by my neighbours niece as Bablus contact number. After that day,Bablu has been missing from that area.
When contacted,Harjinder Singh, incharge of police post at Maloya said,The main suspect in this case is Bablu,a labourer from state of Bihar who was living near Sageer Khans house as a paying guest. The house owner did not maintain any records,so it has become difficult for us to track his location.
Further, the number from which he called has been traced to Surjit Singh of Dera Bassi, who was also a close associate of Bablu. But we have failed to track him also, he said.
DSP South,Surjit Singh Malik said,All necessary efforts have been taken and efforts are still going on to locate the missing girl. Two teams have been made under the supervision of SHO Sector 39 in this regard. Monitoring is going on at the Sub Divisional Police Officer level.
