Ten infected with H3N2 in Haryana, 1 suspected death in Jind

At least 10 persons have been found infected with the H3N2 influenza A virus in Haryana. One patient, who was also suffering from lung cancer, died in Jind district. However, state Health Minister Anil Vij said that “directions have been issued to the health department to ascertain if the patient died due to H3N2 or due to lung cancer.”

Talking to media persons about the state’s preparedness to tackle the rising cases of H3N2 infections, Vij said: “People need not panic. So far, 10 cases of this infection have come to light in Haryana… State’s health infrastructure is robust and fully equipped to tackle any exigency.”

Indian Medical Association, too, has issued an advisory regarding H3N2 virus. As per the doctors, high fever, severe headache, body ache, throat ache, cough, and cold are a few of the symptoms of this infection. Till date, at least 90 cases of H3N2 have been reported across India.

Doctors have advised that in case a person gets infected with H3N2, it is important to keep the body hydrated and the patient should take a liquid diet. Patients are also advised to remain isolated till their symptoms subside and they should immediately take medical advice as soon as they develop symptoms of this infection.
