A day after BJP’s ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ came under attack in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch district, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Congress party was behind the attack, while former CM Kamal Nath alleged that the people’s anger over an impractical implementation of the Cheetah project by the BJP was the reason.
On Tuesday night, the BJP’s Jan Ashirwad Yatra was pelted with stones at Rauli Kudi village in the Rampura area, about 75km from the district headquarters.
DIG Manoj Singh said that eight persons have been detained and that the police were scanning videos to identify some people who raised political slogans.
Singh said, “The yatra was moving from Rampura to Gandhisagar, when the incident happened. We have got some information about the involvement of some political people. We are collecting evidence. An FIR has been registered.”
There are also talks that the attack came from villagers who were angry over the Gandhi Sagar sanctuary being fenced as there is a plan to release cheetahs.
Former Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath said that the stone pelting incident was an example of distrust among the people against the BJP government.
“The BJP government is imposing an impractical cheetah project on the people. The land of the farmers and villagers is badly affected. There is a lot of anger, but the CM and BJP leaders are ignoring the public sentiments,” Nath said.
