RCB Victory Parade in Bengaluru Today Update: Hours after the Bengaluru Traffic Police and Home Minister Parameshwara Rao said that there will be no victory parade for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) men’s cricket team after its maiden Indian Premier League title win in 18 years, the traffic police said it has made “preparations in case it happens”.
After news emerged that the victory parade had been cancelled, Bangalore Central MP PC Mohan slammed the state government. A couple of hours later, the RCB X handle posted this message:
“🚨 RCB Victory Parade: Today at 5 pm IST. ‼️
Victory Parade will be followed by celebrations at the Chinnaswamy stadium.
We request all fans to follow guidelines set by police and other authorities, so that everyone can enjoy the roadshow peacefully.
Free passes (limited entry) available on http://shop.royalchallengers.com”.
Asked about the latest development, the traffic police officials said that while there was still no clarity on the victory parade, “we have made preparations in case it happens”.
Earlier, Parameshwara Rao, the home minister of Karnataka, said that there will be no open-bus victory parade “due to security reasons”.
“All security measures and traffic measures are in place to ensure there is no inconvenience to the public,” he had added.
The team will meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at the Vidhan Soudha in the evening after which a celebration will be held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Earlier, RCB had tweeted that the team will be holding a special victory parade in Bengaluru today. The parade was scheduled to take place from the Vidhan Soudha to the stadium.
In a social media post, RCB wrote, “This one’s for you, 12th Man Army. For every cheer, every tear, every year. Loyalty is Royalty and today, the crown is yours,” announcing the parade in the city.
However, on Wednesday afternoon, the traffic police pushed out an advisory saying:
After 18 years of wait, RCB beat Punjab Kings by six runs, chasing 190 in Ahmedabad to win their maiden IPL title.
Following the win, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah congratulated the team on X (formerly Twitter): Congratulations to Royal Challengers Bengaluru on a historic IPL triumph! The dream has finally come true – Ee Sala Cup Namde! From electrifying performances to unshakable spirit, this triumph has ignited the pride of Karnataka and thrilled fans across the world.”
Deputy CM D K Shivakumar, too, expressed similar emotions. 18 years of passion, loyalty, and never giving up – and tonight, it all came together! You’ve made every Kannadiga’s dream come true! This is more than a win – it’s an emotional moment for the entire RCB Army. Karnataka roars with pride!” he wrote on X.
