A police constable, who was missing for nearly a week, was found dead inside a well in western Bengaluru under Jnanabharati police station limits on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Shivaraj Balappa, 30, a constable attached to the Madiwala police station.
The police started searching for Shivaraj Balappa after his elder brother Krishnappa Balappa filed a complaint at the Subramanyapura police station on June 26.
In the missing diary, Krishnappa Balappa claimed that Shivaraj Balappa’s wife used to threaten him before his disappearance.
According to a police officer, a domestic dispute arose between Shivaraj Balappa and his wife two months ago. The woman filed a complaint and a case was registered under Section 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code against Shivaraj Balappa and his parents in Davanagere women’s police station.
On June 25, around 9 am, Shivaraj Balappa left the house on his two-wheeler stating that he was heading to work. A few hours later when the family members tried to call him, his mobile phone was found switched off and a missing complaint was registered the next day.
Shivaraj Balappa was appointed as a police constable in 2020 and has been working at the Madiwala police station since then.
