Man who used spiked ice cream to rob women caught in Bangalore

A 45-year-old man has been arrested by the Yeshwanthapura police for allegedly robbing the homes of his friends and family after offering them ice cream or cakes laced with drugs to render them unconscious.

A 45-year-old man has been arrested by the Yeshwanthapura police for allegedly robbing the homes of his friends and family after offering them ice cream or cakes laced with drugs to render them unconscious.

The accused has been identified as Jnanaprakash alias Prakash, a resident of Nagenahalli Dinne in South Bengaluru. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (North division) T R Suresh said that Prakash was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by a woman in North Bengaluru recently.

Pramila in her complaint stated that Prakash was known to her through a relative and that he recently visited her home on May 5 and offered a cake to celebrate a promotion he claimed to have received. Pramila and her daughter who consumed the cake fell unconscious and woke up several hours laters, only to find her house robbed.

She filed a complaint with the Yeshwanthapura police. Prakash was arrested by the team on Monday. Investigations have revealed that he was a repeated offender had committed similar offences before.

Police said that they recovered 100 grams of gold ornaments and four mobile phones worth Rs 4 lakh from the accused.
