Karnataka to get 2 new Vande Bharat Express, including 1 for Kalyan Karnataka region

The two new trains will be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 12.

The South Western Railway on Saturday announced that Karnataka will get two new Vande Bharat trains, including one for the Kalyan Karnataka region.

The two new trains – Kalaburagi-SMVT Bengaluru-Kalaburagi (Train No. 22231/22232) Vande Bharat Express and an additional Vande Bharat train on the Bengaluru-Chennai route via SMVT Bengaluru and Krishnarajapuram – will be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 12. With these two additions, the number of Vande Bharat trains in Karnataka will rise to seven.

The Kalaburagi-SMVT Bengaluru (Train No. 22231) Vande Bharat Express will depart from Kalaburagi at 5:15 am and reach SMVT Bengaluru at 2 pm on all days except Fridays. The train will have stops at Raichur, Mantralayam Road, Guntakal, Anantapur, and Yelahanka.

Whereas, the SMVT Bengaluru-Kalaburagi (Train No. 22232) Vande Bharat Express will start from SMVT Bengaluru at 2:40 pm and reach Kalaburagi at 11:30 pm on all days except Thursdays.

Further, Mysuru-MGR Chennai (Train No. 20663) Vande Bharat Express will depart from Mysuru at 6:00 am and arrive at MGR Chennai at 12:20 pm on all days except Wednesdays. The train will halt at Mandya, SMVT Bengaluru, Krishnarajapuram, and Katpadi along the way.

The MGR Chennai-Mysuru (Train No. 20664) Vande Bharat Express will start from MGR Chennai at 5:00 pm and reach Mysuru at 11:20 pm on all days except Wednesdays.

However, till the commissioning of the maintenance facility at Mysuru, the train will run between SMVT Bengaluru and MGR Chennai Central.

From 5th April onwards, the train will run regularly between Mysuru and MGR Chennai Central as per the above-mentioned timings, railway officials said.

The two new pairs of trains will benefit lakhs of commuters and save a significant amount of time, officials added.
