The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) is all set to integrate advanced technology to enhance transparency in its competitive exams. In a meeting on Thursday, the KEA board decided to employ Artificial Intelligence-powered CCTV cameras and webcasting for the upcoming exams.

The decisions were made during the 31st administrative board meeting, chaired by Higher Education Minister Dr M C Sudhakar.

A Rs 10 crore tender process will be initiated to implement these technologies. The board also approved the use of AI technology for fingerprint collection and facial recognition of candidates in all KEA exams, aiming to prevent proxy candidates from appearing in place of genuine candidates.

Additionally, the board sanctioned the initiation of another Rs 10 crore tender for this purpose. For competitive exams with fewer than 20,000 candidates, the board decided to conduct computer-based tests. Going forward, the KEA plans to equip all exam centres with these advanced technologies for all future exams.

Meanwhile, the board also decided to begin counselling for medical and technical education within the state after the NEET counselling process which is slated to begin on August 14.
