A Special Court in Bengaluru on Wednesday adjourned the anticipatory bail plea of suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna, who is facing allegations of sexually abusing several women, in a rape case. Earlier in the day, Prajwal filed pleas in three cases and the court had asked the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the cases to file objections against these pleas filed on his behalf. Meanwhile, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Wednesday said Prajwal will be arrested as soon as he arrives at the airport here. The statement comes two days after Prajwal released a video statement promising that he would appear before the SIT on May 31.
Prajwal has booked a return flight ticket to Bengaluru from Munich on May 30, news agency PTI said in a report. According to sources in the Special Investigation Team, he is expected to land in Bengaluru in the small hours of May 31. The SIT is maintaining vigil at the Bengaluru’s Kempegowda airport here to arrest him.
In the backdrop of allegations, a network of organisations at Naaveddu Nilladiddare in Karnataka will hold a ‘Hassan Chalo’ rally on May 30. As many as 10,000 people, including women, farmers, students, gender minorities, writers, intellectuals, artists, and retired government officers, are expected to participate in a public protest. Karnataka JDS MP Prajwal Revanna seeks anticipatory bail in sex assault cases ahead of return from Europe
A special court for elected representatives on Wednesday adjourned to May 31 the hearing of three anticipatory bail pleas filed by missing Hassan JDS MP Prajwal Revanna, 33, in three sexual assault cases filed against him following the emergence of his alleged sex videos ahead of the April 26 Lok Sabha elections in Hassan.
The anticipatory bail pleas were filed on behalf of Prajwal Revanna in his absence by advocate Arun G, who told the court he had received a scanned and signed copy of a vakalath. (Know more)
Case filed after Muslims offer Friday prayers on road in Karnataka’s Mangaluru: police
Days after a video went viral online showing a group of men offering namaz on a public road in Karnataka’s communally sensitive Mangaluru town, the police have registered a suo motu case. The prayers, offered on May 24 at Kankanady, caused traffic disruption for some time and many vehicles were forced to take alternative routes.
