Chief minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday said 1212 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) promising investment worth Rs 3.24 lakh crore, focusing on 21 sectors in north Gujarat, were signed during the two days of the first Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) in Mehsana. The CM was speaking at the valedictory function of VGRC.
Calling it a “successful beginning of a success story”, CM Patel said, “There was a clear message in the thoughts presented by industrialists, representatives from agriculture sector, young entrepreneurs and women entrepreneurs that north Gujarat is not just a geographical region, but energy point of future Gujarat. And we are calling it energy point because in two days, 1212 MoUs have been signed in 21 sectors and there are (promises of) investments of Rs 3.24 lakh crore. This (proposed) investment will play a decisive role in taking forward the goals set by the state government for increasing Gujarat’s GDP, per capita income and creating new employment opportunities.”
Patel said it is the pledge of the state government to take development to the doorstep of every household with collective effort.
This was the first VGRC of Gujarat government after 10 editions of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in the state. The VGGS was started by the then CM Narendra Modi in 2003. The state government is planning to hold it in four different regions of the state. CM Patel credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the success of VGRC.
Referring to the first VGGS held at Tagore Hall in Ahmedabad in 2003, CM Patel said, “Only if you go back (to 2003), you will realise how big was the vision. And Gujarat has been the biggest beneficiary of the vision.”
He added the state government has started the VGRC at district level to ensure involvement of every village, taluka, district and city. He also indicated that it was PM Modi’s vision to organise VGRC at the zone level.
The CM added, “With this Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference, a new chapter of Gujarat’s development has started. Now, we have strong support from central and state governments. And most importantly, all the countries of the world have put faith in Narendrabhai Modi and Gujarat. Let us strengthen this faith.”
The valedictory session was also addressed by industries minister Balvantsinh Rajput and Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai, among others.
According to an official release, “The event (VGRC) saw overwhelming international engagement with participation from 80+ countries, over 29,000+ registrations, 440+ international delegates, and more than 160 B2B and 100 B2G meetings, reinforcing Gujarat’s position as a global investment and innovation hub.” The release further stated that companies such as Kosol Renewable Energy, Skymax Infrapower and KP Group committed major investments in Patan and Banaskantha.
This first VGRC, held at Ganpat University in Mehsana, had three partner countries – Japan, Vietnam and South Korea. Its focus areas included renewable energy, dairy and food processing, agriculture, automobile components, engineering and tourism.
