Temple offerings from Somnath, Mahakaleshwar, Kashi Vishwanath to be made available via speed post

The devotees will get the details of the speed post on their mobile number through SMS, said sources

People, across the country, can now get prasad from Gujarat’s Somnath Temple, Varanasi’s Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar Temple through the speed post service of the Department of Posts, Government of India, according to an official statement.

Additionally, during Maha Shivratri, the post offices will also offer a 250 ml bottle of Gangajal for Rs 30. Postmaster General of North Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch Krishna Kumar Yadav, in a statement issued on Monday, said that Somnath Trust has signed an agreement with the Department of Post, Government of India, to provide prasad to devotees at their door steps.

Under this agreement, any devotee can send an e-money order of Rs 270 to Somnath Trust Manager Prabhas Patan, Junagadh district, Gujarat-362268, and request prasad via the speed post.

The e-money order should be marked with “Booking for Prasad.” On receiving the money, the Somnath Trust will send a packet weighing 400 gram to the devotee through speed post.

The prasad packet will contain 200 grams of laddoo, 100 grams of sesame chikki, and 100 grams of peanut chikki, said Yadav.

To get prasad from Kashi Vishwanath Temple through speed post service, an e-money order of just Rs 251 has to be sent in the name of Senior Superintendent Post Office, Varanasi (East) Division-221001, said sources.

Yadav said that the prasad package includes an image of Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga, Maha Mrityunjay Yantra, Shiv Chalisa, 108 beads of Rudraksh garland, Bilva leaves, a coin with an image of Mata Annapurna inscribed, Bhabhuti, Raksha Sutra, Rudraksha bead, and a packet of dry fruits and mishri.

“Prasad from Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple can also be obtained through the speed post. To avail this, an e-money order of Rs 251 needs to be sent to the Manager, Speed Post Center, Ujjain. In return, the prasad will be sent to the provided address via speed post. The prasad package includes 200 grams of laddoo, Bhabhuti, and an image of Lord Shri Mahakaleshwar,” he added.
