Surat man injured in mobile phone blast

Bhavesh Thummer suffered injuries to his chest, left eye and ear and was taken to SMIMER hospital where his condition is reported to be out of danger.

A 30-year-old diamond polisher was left with severe injuries after a mobile phone kept in his shirt pocket exploded here on Monday afternoon. Bhavesh Thummer suffered injuries to his chest, left eye and ear and was taken to SMIMER hospital where his condition is reported to be out of danger.

Thummer was at his friend Kanti Patel’s timber mart in Punagam on Monday when the accident happened.

His friends took him to a nearby private hospital and later shifted him to Surat Municipal Corporation-run SMIMER hospital at Sahara Darwaja in Surat.

Punagam police reached the hospital and took statements of the victim and started probe. Police said that Bhavesh had received severe injuries on his chest, face, hands and ears, etc, but his condition is normal.
