State’s time capsule to be installed at Mahatma Mandir today

A Time capsule chronicling the march of Gujarat since its foundation on May 1,1960 will be lowered at the Mahatma Mandir during the ground breaking ceremony in Gandhinagar on Monday,officials said on Sunday. Chief Minister Narendra Modi will perform the ground-breaking ceremony of the Mandir. The memorial is being built by kar sevaks with soil and water brought from 159 towns and 18,000 villages in Gujarat as also from different states in India and 26 other countries.

The project has been undertaken as part of the state’s golden jubilee celebrations.

The time capsule is in the form of a box by the name of Kaal Sanduk or Smriti Manjusha,and is made of special stainless steel. The scripts too are written on a special paper mixed with plastic to last for a long time. It will contain audio-visual compact disks prepared by the Government of Gujarat,besides Ravishankar Maharaj’s speech delivered at the time of Gujarat’s Foundation Day on May 1,1960.

The time capsule will also carry the resolution passed by the Chief Minister,MPs and MLAs at a conclave held early this year.
