FOUR persons were arrested after the Local Crime Branch of Bhavnagar district police Friday busted a racket that provides dummy candidates for attending government recruitment examinations and board examinations on behalf of candidates of Bhavnagar district.
Police said the accused had also sent two dummy candidates for the junior clerk recruitment examination conducted by the state government last Sunday.
According an FIR registered at Bharatnagar police station in Bhavnagar, Sharad Panot, Prakash alias PK Dave and Baldev Rathod, all residents of Bhavnagar forged hall tickets of candidates for government recruitment examination and board examination of Class 10 and 12 and send dummy candidates to take examination for dozens of job aspirants and students and helped them get recruited into government service since 2012 onwards.
The FIR states that the trio used to charge from Rs 5 lakh to Rs10 lakh for finding a dummy and facilitate entry of that dummy into examination hall for taking examination on behalf of original candidate or student.
They used to pay Rs 25,000 to dummy candidates for each examination, said police.
The FIR stated that as per claims made by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yuvrajsinh Jadeja, one Milan Baraiya had appeared in the junior clerk recruitment examination last Sunday on behalf of Bhavesh Jethva and one Vimal Jani had acted as dummy of Ankit Lakum in the same recruitment examination.
The FIR said that after the APP leader declared the four names in a press conference, the accused went underground.
