Protesters roughed up on way to Assembly

Protesters from Mahuva,including women and children,were allegedly roughed up before being arrested while marching towards the state Assembly

Protesters from Mahuva,including women and children,were allegedly roughed up before being arrested while marching towards the state Assembly on Friday. As the marchers,who claimed they had sought prior permission from the Assembly Speaker to hand over a memorandum of their demands,headed towards the House,they were stopped by police at Pathika Ashram.

Those arrested were taken to the office of Gandhinagar SP,where they were kept for around four hours. Kadviben Bhaviya,one of the protesters,,“Police beat us up and did not even spare children. We are not criminals. We are just fighting for our rights.”
