Prohibitory orders issued near Ahmedabad counting centres

The prohibitory order will not be applicable to the personnel appointed at the counting centres.

Carrying or using mobile phones or any electronic communication device, vehicles and substances such as matchbox and lighters have been prohibited within 200-metre-radius of Gujarat College and L D Engineering College — the counting centres for Ahmedabad West and Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha constituencies — in Ahmedabad city on June 4.

Anybody found violating the notification will be liable to be prosecuted under the provisions of Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, the prohibitory orders issued by Police Commissioner G S Malik stated.

However, the prohibitory order will not be applicable to the personnel appointed at the counting centres. The notification will stay in force until the counting ends.
