A Junagadh police inspector,posted at Chowki-Sorath-based SRP training camp,was arrested on dowry charges on Monday.
The arrest was made on a complaint by the daughter-in-law of the policeman.
The inspector,identified as Suresh Vyas,was later released on bail.
According to the details of the case,Vyas Rajkot-based daughter-in-law Khushbu Joshi had submitted an
application to the range police IG,accusing her husband Vikrant,father-in-law Vyas and his wife Kokila of subjecting her to physical and mental torture for more dowry.
Based on this application,an inquiry was ordered and after a detailed investigation,Vyas was arrested,according to the Veraval police.
According to sources close to the complainant,Khushbu and her family members have demanded suspension of Vyas,as he may misuse his power of a police official in the case.
They also fear he may try to temper with evidences or influence the witnesses in the case.
Earlier,three other members of the family were arrested in this regard,sources in the police said.
