Replying to the Congress’s allegations of vendetta politics in connection with a money laundering probe in the National Herald case, the Gujarat BJP Wednesday said that the former should stop playing the “victim card” and instead prove itself before the court.

Vice-President of Gujarat BJP, Gordhan Zadaphia, while addressing a press conference at the party state headquarters ‘Shree Kamalam’, refuted Congress’s allegations of a “political motive”. Zadaphia said that the case came to light in 2011-12 when the Congress party was in power and it could have got it quashed.

“Please don’t play the victim card. Prove yourself before the honourable court. When the court admits a case, it does so after going through all the aspects. Court does not take cognizance (merely) on the basis of someone’s allegations. And instead of giving answers, I have heard, they (Congress) are saying that they will hold an agitation,” Zadaphia said.

Zadaphia said that his party is not out to give any answer. “We do not have to give any answer. We are responding to the narrative of vendetta politics… It is not politically motivated. Otherwise, you could have got the matter quashed (when Congress was in power).”
