The court directed the “deletion of strictures” passed against the Registry over the status of the installation of CCTV cameras in the High Court Registry

The Gujarat High Court’s Division Bench, comprising Justice AS Supehia and Justice RT Vachhani, on Monday quashed and set aside a Single-Judge’s August 18 order and directed the “deletion of strictures” passed against the Registry over the status of the installation of CCTV cameras in the High Court Registry. The Division Bench was hearing an appeal filed by the Registrar of the High Court’s IT department on Monday and observed in its order, “…we commend the concern expressed by the learned Single Judge relating to the issue of installation of the CCTV cameras, with due respect, we hold that the learned Single Judge in his judicial capacity lacks the authority to command the Registry in any way on the issue, which exclusively lies under the domain and control of The Hon’ble Chief Justice, as doing so would go against the authority, control and supremacy of The Hon’ble Chief Justice…”
