After the TRP Game Zone blaze, purported photographs of senior government officials visiting the unit after its inauguration have gone viral on social media. A senior government official said, “It is difficult to hold senior officials accountable… If a junior official is delegated with powers of inspection and if he has cleared… without any adverse note, the senior official has to simply clear the file.
Also, any official can pay visit to such units. It cannot be held against him that he did not detect any non-compliance of rules during his visit.” Omission of action is more difficult to prove than commission of action, the official added.
Action At Top
The General Board of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Friday paid tribute to the victims of Rajkot TRP Game Zone fire.
After the meeting, seeking action against those units that do not comply with fire safety rules, Leader of Opposition Shehzad Khan Pathan said that in such cases, if collusion of AMC officials is detected, action should be taken against them till the top level.
