Surprise Checking

Aiming to launch a crackdown on the use of unauthorised vehicles by students and keep a tab on the increasing road accidents cases, especially involving minors behind the wheels, the Ahmedabad District Education Office (rural) Wednesday issued a directive. The directive has been issued for all secondary and higher secondary schools to launch an awareness campaign against unauthorised vehicles being driven by underage drivers or without valid documents.

“First responsibility is of parents but schools also cannot evade it. We have to ensure that no student brings an unauthorised vehicle to the school. Surprise checking by school and RTO officials will be undertaken in any school in the coming week to ensure that the rules are not flouted. If any student is found bringing a vehicle to school in violation of the Motor Vehicle Act rules, appropriate action as per the rules will be taken against the student,” the directive said.
