Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel Monday handed over appointment letters to 3,014 talati-cum-mantri and 998 junior clerks in the panchayat department. The newly appointed candidates recently cleared the recruitment examinations for the two posts in the panchayat department.

Addressing a public function at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar to hand over the appointment letters, the chief minister called upon the candidates to come out of a race for money and focus on how better things could be done in the service.

“Money is necessary for every person. But we should come out of the race for money with the mentality that money is everything..If money is on your mind, then how can you do service? You have already got a government job. Now, what should be on your mind is what better can be done. We must come out of the race for money.” The chief minister said they held the programme ahead of Diwali to make the festival more joyful for those who have got jobs.

Patel also read out a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed to the new appointees. In his message, PM Modi congratulated the candidates while adding that their priority now should be on how to reduce the difficulties of people of the country and how to make their lives easier. He also told the candidates to continue their self-development.
