Former BJP MP booked for ‘abducting’ Cong candidate

Police said investigation was on but Damodar had not been traced yet. The accused were booked under various sections of the IPC.

Jhalod police have booked former BJP MP Babubhai Katara from Dahod and his two sons for allegedly kidnapping a Congress district panchayat candidate on Sunday morning.

According to the FIR, Katara, his two sons, Bhavesh Katara and Amit Katara and their three accomplices drove to the house of Bharat Damor in Hadmatkunta village of Jhalod taluka in Dahod district along with several others in 10 vehicles and kidnapped him and his associate at gunpoint.

Police said investigation was on but Damodar had not been traced yet. The accused were booked under various sections of the IPC.

In yet another incident in Dahod district, 13 persons were booked by Devgadh Baria police for allegedly attacking a Congress supporter.

As per the FIR, 13 persons beat up the complainant and fired from gun. Nobody was injured, police said.
