Court summons for ex-MCI president Ketan Desai

A special CBI court in the Patiala House Courts complex on Monday issued a summons to Ketan Desai,former president of the Medical Council of India,and five others after taking cognizance of a chargesheet filed by the CBI against them in a graft case.

A special CBI court in the Patiala House Courts complex on Monday issued a summons to Ketan Desai,former president of the Medical Council of India (MCI),and five others after taking cognizance of a chargesheet filed by the CBI against them in a graft case.

Special CBI judge Dharmesh Sharma sought their presence on November 2 after taking cognizance of the chargesheet,which said Desai had accepted Rs 2 crore bribe for giving recognition to a private medical college in Punjab.

I take cognizance of the chargesheet filed against the accused persons. Issue summons against them for November 2, the judge said.

The CBI had filed the chargesheet more than a year after the arrest of Ketan Desai and three others J P Singh,Kamaljeet Singh and Sukhvinder Singh on April 22 in connection with the alleged graft.
