Court gives Jafri nine more days for protest petition

A metropolitan court on Wednesday gave nine more days to Zakia Jafri to file protest petition in connection with her complaint alleging Chief Minister Narendra Modi and others in the 2002 Gujarat riots.

Ahmedabad: A metropolitan court on Wednesday gave nine more days to Zakia Jafri to file protest petition in connection with her complaint alleging Chief Minister Narendra Modi and others in the 2002 Gujarat riots. Zakia’ lawyer S M Vora informed the court that they have filed a petition before the Supreme Court for clarification that her complaint covers only Gulberg Society massacre or statewide riots as a part of larger conspiracy. Vora said they moved before the SC since the past three judgments by this court (metro court) and SIT’s have said Zakia’s complaint is limited to Gulberg. Since the SC is yet to decide on the petition, the metro court scheduled the next hearing on October 25.
