Seven constables fainted during their passing out parade (POP) on Tuesday morning which was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The incident took place at the parade ground of the Police Training School (PTS) in the city,where 419 Lok Rakshak Dal (LRD) jawans and constables of the Western Railway were parading out after completing their eight-month long training.
The jawans began to faint soon after their march past at around 8 am,during Modis speech. By the time the Chief Minister completed his 15 minute-long speech,six more constables,including one woman constable were escorted out of the grounds because they showed signs of fainting and exhaustion.
This happens at every parade. Due to the humidity,their energy levels dropped and they had to be helped out of the parade grounds. They were given water and after a few minutes rest,they were all fine, the Principal of PTS,Ishwar Desai toldThe Indian Express.
Vice Principal MP Raol said that the pressure surrounding the occasion was also responsible for the constables fainting during their parade. They were a little nervous. It was a very special occasion for them said Raol adding that nobody was hospitalised or required any special medical treatment.
The Director General of Police (DGP),Chitranjan Singh and Additional Director General of Police (training),T S Bisht were also present at the parade. Incidentally,it was the first time in 57 years of the Police Training School that a chief minister attended the POP of the constables. The Chief Minister congratulated the youngest police force of the country and encouraged them to maintain the discipline and commitment that had shown during their training for the rest of their career in the force.
