Close shave for Asaram as copter crashlands

Spiritual leader Asaram Bapu had a narrow escape when his helicopter made a rough landing in Godhra on Wednesday,breaking into three parts. Asaram was coming here from Morbi to attend a three-day spiritual camp starting today.

The pilot and a follower of Asaram also escaped unhurt,police said.

The incident took place after the chopper was forced to land at a college because of heavy rains. The pilot lost balance when the chopper was about 50 metres away from the helipad. Its wings touched the ground while landing,as a result of which the the chopper broke into three parts,said Godhra DySP V J Jadeja.

I escaped unhurt despite such a big accident. Nobody was injured,which is no less than a miracle, Asaram told reporters.
