MoU inked with CSC Taiwan for steel plant
Ahmedabad: State industrial facilitation arm iNDEXTb today signed a pact with China Steel Corporation (CSC),Taiwanese steel maker,to set up an electrical steel (ES) plant with one million tonne capacity at an investment of Rs 6,000 crore at Dahej GIDC estate. The MoU was signed between Managing Director Industrial Extension Bureau (iNDEXTb) Mukesh Kumar and Chairman CSC (Taiwan) group J D Lin,in the presence of Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Ambassador of Taiwan Ong Wen Chyi.
PDPU inks MoU with Trinidad university
Ahmedabad: Gandhinagar-based Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) signed an MoU with the University of Trinidad & Tobago (UTT) on Tuesday. A delegation comprising Fazal Karim,the Minister of Science & Technology,Tertiary Education Trinidad & Tobago,Curtis Manchoon,Chairman,Board of Governors,UTT and other faculties visited PDPU as a part of their official visit to India. The MoU will help both the institutes to exchange information on research and educational programmes.
Brick kiln workers continue protest
AHMEDABAD: Hundreds of brick kiln workers in Mehsana continued their strike demanding better wages for the second day,labour union members said. Nearly 1,000 brick kiln workers in Chatiyada village of Mehsana district have gone on a strike demanding better wages,” Int Bhatta Majdoor Union members said in a statement,adding,workers want Rs 500 per 1,000 bricks.
Students up against GTU policies
AHMEDABAD: Members of Gujarat Technological University Students’ Union on Wednesday held a demonstration outside LD College of engineering office against anti-student’s policies of the varsity. On Thursday,they will again hold demonstrations before GTU chancellor and state Governor Kamla Beniwal when she comes to address GTU’s first convocation at LDCE’s grounds. Coordinator of the students’ union Ravi Ahir said the grading system for awarding marks to the students in semester performance index (SPI) and cumulative performance index (CPI) was illegal and unjustifiable and it affected students.
German delegates meet AMC officials
Ahmedabad: A 15-member delegation led by Stuttgart Mayor Wolfgang Schuster from Germany called on civic authorities including Mayor Asit Vora and municipal commissioner Guruprasad Mohapatra here on Wednesday. The delegation was impressed with the city projects,said an AMC release.
