AP Singh is new head of Gujarat forest department

He joined the state Forest Department in 1992 and served as Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) in Rajpipla, Dangs and Devgadh Baria Forest Divisions till 1994.

Gujarat-cadre IFS officer A P Singh was Tuesday appointed as the new head of the state forest department, according to a government notification.

Singh was promoted and appointed as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of the Forest Force (PCCF & HoFF) after current PCCF & HoFF Nityanand Srivastava retired Tuesday.

A notification in this regard was issued by the Forest & Environment Department of Gujarat government. Singh’s appointment will be in force from January 1, 2024.

The 1990 batch IFS officer has done MSc (Plant Sciences) and PhD in Medicinal Plants Diversity and Pharmaceutical Industries. Currently, he is posted as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Social Forestry.

He joined the state Forest Department in 1992 and served as Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) in Rajpipla, Dangs and Devgadh Baria Forest Divisions till 1994. He has completed 35 years in service while working in multiple fields of the department.

His long stint in the department included posting as Chief Conservator of Forests, Wildlife Circle, Junagadh from 2015 to 2018. During his tenure at Junagadh Wildlife Circle, the 14th Lion Census was conducted in 2015.

Singh has also written multiple research papers and articles as well as a book.
