Anti-Raj Thackeray posters outside govt offices in Surat

Several banners deriding Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray’s stand on the use of Hindi were found pasted on the walls of government offices in Surat on Wednesday.

Several banners deriding Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray’s stand on the use of Hindi were found pasted on the walls of government offices in Surat on Wednesday. These were put up by a little-known outfit named Hinduvahini Sena, whose antecedents are under investigation. The police removed the posters soon after they came to their notice later in the day.

Referring to the MNS legislators assaulting SP MLA Abu Azmi for using Hindi to take oath,as well as the Vande Mataram controversy, the posters called for strict action against Raj and the like. Posters were found pasted on the compound walls of Surat Collectorate, the district court premises and all other nearby government buildings.

The posters were signed by Rahul Singh (Prashant) — president and Sudhakar Singh (Sawant) vice-president of Hinduvahini Sena,Hindustan.

The police said little is known about the outfit and the two names on the posters. Surat Police Commissioner Shivanand Jha said: “We will not tolerate such an act,as it harms the communal harmony of Surat city. We are tracing those responsible for it.”
