The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has not narrowed down on its candidate for Vadodara Lok Sabha seat yet, is exploring a possibility of approaching former IAS officer and known Modi-baiter, Kuldip Sharma.
Bhushan Bhatt, media convenor of AAP Vadodara, said, “There are a few names under consideration. Our state executive has a couple of names on mind. Kuldip Sharma is in consideration, because he has come out to fight against the system while we are also considering another activist who has been vocal about his opinion of Modi after the 2002 Godhra riots. At the end, the name that is best suited to take on Narendra Modi will be given a ticket from here.” Sharma denied the prospect of contesting elections and said, “I have no such plan.”
Sharma, who belongs to 1976 batch of IPS officer, had retired as Director General of Bureau for Police Research and Development in December 2012. In February this year, Sharma had resigned as an advisor from the Ministry of Home Affairs, leading to speculation that he would join politics. He had refused the speculation then.
