An earthquake of the magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale struck Khavda region of Kutch near the India-Pakistan border on Tuesday morning.
No casualties have been reported so far.
According to Gandhinagar-based Institute of Seismological Research, the seismic activity was epicentered about 39 kilometres north-east of Khavda near the border road running along the international boundary that India shares with Pakistan.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 1.3 km at 1.09 am in a region that is largely barren.
