Swami Sachchidanand Hari Sakshi Ji Maharaj, also known as Sakshi Maharaj, is a political and religious leader associated with Bhartiya Janta Party. He is the incumbent Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao Lok Sabha constituency. He was born on January 12, 1956, in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh, to Atmanandji Maharaj Premi and Madalasa Devi Lodhi.
He started his political career as a member of the BJP and won the Lok Sabha elections of 1991, 1996, and 1998. He was denied a ticket for the 1999 Lok Sabha elections by BJP, resulting in him joining the Samajwadi Party. He returned to the BJP in 2012 and went on to contest and win the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Unnao.
He has been accused of criminal activities such as murder, rape and corruption, and has served several jail terms. He has a number of criminal cases pending against him in court, including the charges for instigating the crowd to demolish Babri Masjid.
