Son of Raj Kapoor and grandson of Prithviraj Kapoor, he launched his career as a child artist in Shree 420 (1955). His acting debut came with the 1971 family drama, followed by roles in films like Jeet (1972), Hamrahi (1974), Lafange (1975), and Ponga Pandit (1975). He also featured in multi-starrers such as Raampur Ka Lakshman (1972) and Haath Ki Safai (1974). While his career slowed after 1985, leading to a decade-long hiatus from acting, Kapoor's directorial venture, Henna (1991), garnered a Filmfare Best Director nomination. This romantic drama marked a significant achievement in his career. Married to actress Babita since 1971, they have two daughters, the well-known actresses Karisma and Kareena Kapoor.
