Piyush Goyal: A Profile in Power Born June 13, 1964, Piyush Goyal’s political career is marked by a steady ascent within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Currently serving as Minister of Commerce and Industry since 2019, his portfolio has also encompassed Textiles, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Finance. Elevated to Cabinet Minister in 2017, Goyal’s experience includes a stint as Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, representing Maharashtra. His electoral success includes winning the Mumbai North Lok Sabha seat in 2019. Prior to his ministerial roles, Goyal served as BJP’s National Treasurer and spearheaded its 2014 election campaign.
