Hailing from West Bengal's politically charged landscape, Deepak Adhikari has carved a niche for himself within the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). Representing the Ghatal constituency in the Lok Sabha since 2019, his meteoric rise reflects both personal charisma and the shifting dynamics of regional politics.
Born in 1989, Deepak's political lineage runs deep. His father, Sisir Adhikari, is a prominent TMC leader and former minister in the Mamata Banerjee government. This familial connection provided early exposure to political life, but Deepak's journey is marked by individual merit as well. He established himself as a student leader while pursuing law, garnering support for his activism and organizational skills.
Deepak's political debut came in 2016 when he contested the Nandigram assembly seat against a heavyweight from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Though he lost, his spirited campaign and ability to connect with young voters left a lasting impression. He bounced back decisively in 2019, securing a resounding victory in the Ghatal Lok Sabha constituency, becoming the youngest MP from West Bengal at the time.
Notably, he once again secured a comfortable victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Ghatal and was able to retain his seat.
