Prashant Bhushan, ex-member of the Aam Aadmi Party, today invited Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for an open public debate on the Jan Lokpal bill through advertisements released on the radio.

“It seems like the movement for the Jan Lokpal bill and the country have been betrayed. Hence, I invite Arvind Kejriwal for an open, public debate on this so that people can arrive at the conclusion as to who is honest and who is lying. Come, Arvind, let’s debate on this,” Bhushan is heard saying in the advertisement.

Bhushan, along with Yogendra Yadav had slammed the version of the bill that was tabled by the Aam Aadmi Party government in the Delhi Assembly last week. He had said that the present version of the bill goes against the very principles for which the anti-corruption movement was fought.

Both Bhushan and Yadav were expelled from the party shortly after its landslide victory in the national capital on charges of indulging in ‘anti-party activities.’ After their expulsion, the two leaders had formed a ‘non-political’ outfit called the ‘Swaraj Abhiyan’.

On its part, the AAP has maintained that no changes were made to the original version of the bill. It went on to accuse both Bhushan and Yadav for targeting the Delhi government at the behest of the BJP.
