At 2 pm Friday, standing still in the scorching sun, octogenarian Ram Nagina, a vegetable farmer from the Yamuna floodplains, held on to his walking stick near the railing that separated the 1,200-feet stage at the World Culture Festival (WCF) from the audience enclosure. “This is a big event happening in our country so I thought I should come and see it. I can’t see very well after sunset,” the bespectacled man said as he watched dancers rehearse.
