FIR Registered In Haryana IPS Officer Y Puran Kumar’s Death; Chandigarh Police Name Senior Officers

Haryana Officer Death Case: In a major development, Chandigarh Police have registered an FIR in connection with the death of Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar, who was found dead with a gunshot wound at his residence in Sector 11 earlier this week. A note recovered from the scene — reportedly an 8–9-page document — named senior officers and detailed years of alleged mental harassment and humiliation, believed to have pushed the 2001-batch officer to take the extreme step. The FIR, registered under Section 108 rw 3(5) (abetment of suicide) and 3(1)(r) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, mentions the accused cited in the note. Police have begun a detailed investigation into the allegations. Kumar’s wife, IAS officer Amneet P. Kumar, has urged Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini to ensure action against those named.
