Powerful Quake Devastates Turkey – Rescue Race Underway! | Balikesir Earthquake |

A magnitude 6.19 earthquake struck Turkey’s Balikesir province on Sunday evening, shaking buildings as far as 200km away in Istanbul. The quake, centred in Sindirgi at a depth of 11km, caused about a dozen buildings to collapse, including homes and a mosque minaret. One person died, 29 were injured, and two remain trapped under debris. Rescue crews have saved four people so far, and damage assessments continue. The tremor has revived painful memories of the devastating 2023 quake that killed over 53,000 people in Turkey and 6,000 in Syria.
