Amit Shah Warns Against Linking Infiltration To Politics, Cites Demographic Shifts In Census Data

Addressing the ‘Narendra Mohan Smriti Lecture’ and ‘Sahitya Srishti Samman’ ceremony organised by Dainik Jagran, Union Home Minister Amit Shah warned against politicising the issue of infiltration. He said infiltration, demographic change, and democracy are deeply interconnected, urging that every Indian must understand these issues to safeguard the country’s culture and independence. Citing census data from 1951 to 2011, Shah pointed to changes in religious demographics. He also accused some state governments of supporting infiltration for vote-bank politics, saying, “Political patronage should not be granted. Anyone who fails to understand the difference between refugees and infiltrators is deceiving themselves.”
