As shuttler P V Sindhu gets set for her semifinal at the Rio Olympics on Thursday, her parents back home in Hyderabad are praying for her continued success. “Absolutely praying. I just spoke to her. I told her to be just focussed. I am confident she should win tomorrow and once she wins so a medal is confirmed for us,” Sindhu’s father PV Ramana said.

“We are very happy that Sindhu has reached semi-finals…this is first Olympics for her. Glad to see her reach semi-finals. As parents we just told her keep going…you are playing well…Concentrate and fight for the next win…if she continues to play the way she has been in the last few days we have chances,” Sindhu’s mother P Vijaya said.

Sindhu will face World no.6 Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the last-four stage. Ramana said Thursday’s game is not going to be easy and added “Ofcourse Okuhara is also good player. It depends upon the day’s performance. Both are playing well. Sindhu has skills. Okuhara is not an easy player.”
