The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge launch is scheduled to take place today ahead of MWC. The leaked pictures of Samsung's 2016 flagship suggest that the Galaxy S7 will be a waterproof phone and the one that supports wireless charging. The video leak by the company's Indonesia team hinted at a similar design as that of S6 series except that the news smartphones will be watreproof. Read more here
Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will start at euros 699 and 799 respectively, according to reports. Also, the company has added microSD slots to its news Galaxy series, which is expected to launch in grey, black and gold colour variants. The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will feature USB Type-C port and pressure sensitive screens. The smartphones are expected to come with two different chipset variants: the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC and its own Exynos chipset. Read more here
LG has announced two new smartphones in its new X series ahead of MWC 2016 - the X cam and X screen. While LG X cam is just 5.2 mm thick, weighs 118g and sports dual cameras on the rear. This one comes with a 3D Bending Glass cover. LG X, on the other hand, will feature an “Always-on” second Screen, which until now has only been available on LG’s premium V10. Xiaomi is all set to launch its Mi 5 smartphone on February 24 at MWC is Spain. Xiaomi Mi 5 is one of the most awaited smartphones by the Chinese start-up. The company VP, Hugo Barra and the co-founder Lin Bin recently shared camera samples from Mi 5 on their Facebook and Weibo accounts respectively. The pictures suggest that Mi 5's 16 megapixel rear camera will have a better auto-focus and shutter speed. The upcoming flagship will sport a 13 megapixel front camera and if rumours are anything to be believed, Xiaomi Mi 5 will feature a 5.2-inch display with either full HD or Quad HD resolution. LG at MWC 2016 will also launch LG Stylus 2, which is basically an enhanced sequence to its G4 Stylus. The LG Stylus 2 is 7.4mm thin and has special features such as Pen Pop, which toggles a popup menu when the stylus is removed to offer shortcuts to Pop Memo and Pop Scanner. It sports a 3,000mAh removable battery and a SD card slot. Read more here
Lenovo has teased a full-metal smartphone to be launched at MWC, sparking rumours that this could be Lemon 3 Plus or the A7000 successor. Lenovo put out a tweet saying, "A gorgeous new device has been engineered from scratch to deliver the #Knockout punch. Brace yourselves." We’ll have to wait and see what the smartphone is called, and what price Lenovo introducesthe new phone in India. Read more here
LG will also launch its flagship G5 smartphone at a pre-MWC event today. The company has teased the smartphone with ‘always-on display’ has also released Quick Cover officially with active display clearly visible. Based on a leaked picture, the LG G5 appears to ditch the leather back cover we saw in the LG G4 and it is stated that the G5 will also have a secondary screen as well as dual-camera set-up.
