India and New Zealand began their three-match Test series in Kanpur on Thursday. Having won the toss, India decided to bat first on a typical Green Park wicket. KL Rahul and Murali Vijay opened the innings for India. While they were solid at the beginning, Rahul was the aggressor of the two. Once he found his touch, Rahul stroked some good boundaries. When Mitchell Santner was introduced in the ninth over, Rahul looked comfortably against him and even hit a big six off him. But after two balls, Rahul tried defending a quicker one but got the faintest of the edges and was dismissed. (Source: Reuters)
Mitchell Santner was the bowler to draw first blood against India as he removed a well settled KL Rahul. This brought New Zealand back in the game in the first session.
