This weekend saw two huge weddings both with respect to Bollywood and Hollywood (well, almost). In India, celebrity designer Masaba Gupta got married to her fiancé producer Madhu Mantana with a three-day wedding gala, while in the US, Modern Family star Sofia Vergara married actor, director, producer and author Joe Manganiello in a lavish ceremony in Palm Beach. Both the brides are known for their style quotient, with Gupta making a conscious decision to stay away from traditionally heavy lehengas, and keep it simple. For instance, for her bridal shower, Gupta designed herself a simple, breezy black and white outfit. The off-shoulder, polka-dot top was teamed with a pair of black pants. The bride-to-be paired the ensemble with a shimmering Nirav Modi diamond brocade necklace. (Source: Instagram)
True to her initial statement of keeping it a no-fuss wedding, at least sartorially. Gupta's mehendi outfit — which was her own creation — was a simple white and gold confection, with a flared lehenga with bold gold booties, and borad gold border. She looked adorable in pink at her sangeet ceremony in a Raw Mango ensemble, and much like a pretty bride-to-be. And at the wedding reception, it was all about conmfort and classy with the classic colour combination of black and white yet again, in an Anamika Khanna creation. On the other side of the globe, style icon and Modern Family heartthrob looked stunning, with every bit of flare added to her stunning wedding dress for her very romantic fairytale wedding. Vergara was wearing a white strapless silk-tulle dress with a sweetheart neckline. It had hand-embroidered 3D embellishments on the bodice, with a pearl beaded belt that highlighted her waist. The huge detachable skirt brought in an element of drama. She finished her dazzling look with Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings (55 carats), and more diamonds by the designer in her hair and on her wrist. (Source: Instagram)
While showing off two very different looks, the two brides made sure they had lots of fun at their respective ceremonies. Vergara had worked very closely with her designer Zuhair Murad for her wedding look, while Gupta wore a traditionally for airy-light lehenga from Raw Mango at her wedding sangeet. (Source: Instagram)
Vergara's gown was covered in more than 11 pounds of sequins and 6 pounds of pearls thanks to all the intricate beading, and 32 people worked around the clock to complete the design; while Gupta — true to her mandate of a simple, no-fuss wedding dress concept — played with pastels and the classic black-and-white combinations.
