About the place: The ancient city of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh is located on the banks of the Narmada river. An interesting tourist destination, it is often hailed as the the "land of glittering marble rocks". How to reach: Reaching this city is easy since it has its own airport, with flights coming in every day from many major cities. The Jabalpur railway station is also well-connected to the Indian rail network, with many trains shuttling in and out every day. Best time to visit: September to March is the ideal time to visit Jabalpur, as the weather is pretty pleasant. In fact the months leading up to February witness a lot of tourist activities in the city. The summer months are best avoided. (Source: Getty/Thinkstock)
Things to see: Begin your journey by visiting the Dhuandhar Falls. 'Dhuan' means smoke or steam, and 'dhar' means the flow of water. And these waterfalls indeed have a lot of rush and smoke. You cannot be in Jabalpur and not see in person, the overwhelming beauty of the marble rocks. Head over to Bhedaghat marble rocks, located some 25 kms from the main city, on the banks of Narmada river. You must also visit the Chausath Yogini Temple that is roughly an hour's drive from the main city. As the name suggests, the temple has exactly chausath or 64 carved figures of yoginis.
