With the IMD issuing a ‘red alert’ for several districts, heavy rainfall is expected in Gujarat over the next five days.
The state witnessed relentless downpour, measuring over 300 mm, resulting in four fatalities in rain-related incidents in the last 24 hours.
This brings the total number of deaths in the state this monsoon season to 100.
Owing to the situation, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel cancelled the leaves of all district collectors and concerned officials.
The rains have also disrupted railway services, particularly in the Vadodara division of Western Railway.
On Tuesday, 56 trains were canceled due to severe waterlogging at key locations, including Bajwa and Ranoli.
The Centre has deployed six columns of the Indian Army to assist in relief and disaster management efforts across Gujarat.
Residents in affected areas, particularly in Saurashtra region, have been advised to avoid waterlogged zones and exercise caution.
Local authorities have announced the closure of schools and colleges on Tuesday to ensure the safety of students.
